We're off and running!

We came very close last election season finishing with over 50,000 of your votes. Thank you.

UPDATE! This time there are four seats available and two one seat open. (Another incumbent has pulled papers on May 19th.)

So many of you have approached me to run again, I had to say, "Yes!"

Over 50,000 of your votes in 2006 led me not to lose any precinct. We are a very diverse community. Over 100,000 people come through City College's doors every year. That is nearly 10% of the residents who live in the City. Very significant indeed.

We must not allow the Governor to balance the budget on the backs of students any more. It stops here. I pledge to work with our local and Sacramento legislators to insure that tuition stays affordable and no cuts to any programs.

Many San Franciscans have been pushed out of many programs and courses like Nursing giving priority for out-of-towners. I will work to insure that SF'cans get first application to all classes before those whom don't live here.

We all know that housing is being challenged all over California. I opposed Prop 98 and supported Prop 99 in order to preserve the right to rent control and affordable housing among our students and their families. Without a stable home environment, free from stresses like the loss of rent control, our students cannot achieve the successes necessary to go on to the next levels of higher education.

I have many innovative ideas like more Green Technology courses that intersect with current programs, better the transfer process with increased support, more academic bridge programs and helping get more part-time faculty full-time work.

I have a great working knowledge of City College considering past experience attending the Ocean Campus from 1995-98 plus serving on Associated Students Council, the campus student government. I also served on the search and interview committees for choosing the last Chancellor. We have opportunity to do that again and need critical interviews.

Additionally, I am in my fourth year serving on the SFUSD Public Education Enrichment Fund Advisory Committee approved by Prop H in 2004 budgeting nearly $500 million for the students. These experiences have provided me with the confidence and knowledge to represent your values and concerns as your new Trustee.

City College has been tainted with questionable practices and politics over the years considering there has been very little turnover on the Board over three terms of office. That's 12 years!! We need to work to create a new majority based on change.

It is time for change. As your new Trustee, I pledge to bring accountabilty and integrity back to our "gem in the city."

When one knows they are the minority vote on the board, they vote the will of the people, not someone else's politics. We need strong leadership and unwavering fortitude for the future of City College.

I pledge and will bring these values to the Board if you so elect me as your new Trustee.

Thank you for your support and your vote.
