We're off and running!
We came very close last election season finishing with over 50,000 of your votes. Thank you.
UPDATE! This time there are four seats available and two one seat open. (Another incumbent has pulled papers on May 19th.)
So many of you have approached me to run again, I had to say, "Yes!"
Over 50,000 of your votes in 2006 led me not to lose any precinct. We are a very diverse community. Over 100,000 people come through City College's doors every year. That is nearly 10% of the residents who live in the City. Very significant indeed.
We must not allow the Governor to balance the budget on the backs of students any more. It stops here. I pledge to work with our local and Sacramento legislators to insure that tuition stays affordable and no cuts to any programs.
Many San Franciscans have been pushed out of many programs and courses like Nursing giving priority for out-of-towners. I will work to insure that SF'cans get first application to all classes before those whom don't live here.
We all know that housing is being challenged all over California. I opposed Prop 98 and supported Prop 99 in order to preserve the right to rent control and affordable housing among our students and their families. Without a stable home environment, free from stresses like the loss of rent control, our students cannot achieve the successes necessary to go on to the next levels of higher education.
